RAIPUR, India - Maoist rebels killed 14 policemen in an ambush in a central Indian jungle, officials said Monday, the latest in a string of rebel violence that has marred part of India's general election.
Police said the rebels triggered blasts and shot at a security convoy that was searching for rebels on an intelligence tip but which turned out to be a trap.
The heavily armed rebels first triggered multiple blasts and then opened indiscriminate fire from hilltops, Girdhari Nayak, a senior police officer of Chhattisgarh state, told Reuters.
Maoist rebel violence marred the initial phase of a staggered vote. They killed five election officials in a land mine blast and 11 police across the central and eastern red belt.
The rebels, who have called for a boycott of the election, also blasted a railway station, blocked roads and briefly seized a train last month in a show of strength before allowing the passengers to go unharmed.
The Maoists say they are fighting for the rights of poor farmers and the landless.
Thousands have been killed in the Maoist insurgency in India which began in the late 1960s, and which Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has described as one of the gravest threats to India's internal security.

- Gonorrhea (sometimes known as Neisseria gonorrhea, GC, the dose, clap or drip) is caused by a bacteria. It is passed from one person to another by close sexual contact. It may take 1-14 days or longer for symptoms to show up. Some people never have symptoms.
- Gonorrhea can be spread to others by infected people during sexual intercourse, whether or not you have any symptoms.
"Quality sex and relationships education - not just biology lessons - has been shown to decrease risky behaviour in teens. We also need to stop the decline in health promotion work for gay men at a local level."
About the rise in genital herpes, We need to get the message across that this is a lifelong and unpleasant condition which will require ongoing treatment, and not something to be taken lightly.

Missing Chicago Woman's Body Found.
CHICAGO — The family of a missing Chicago woman said a body found early Thursday is that of their loved one.
Nailah Franklin, 28, a pharmaceutical sales representative for Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly, was last heard from a week ago.
Dwayne Johnson, Franklin's uncle, said authorities confirmed it was his niece's body.
Suburban Chicago officials found a body in a forest preserve near where Franklin's car was found abandoned last Friday, police said.
On Thursday morning, authorities in Calumet City reported that they found a body in the Wentworth Woods Forest Preserve, near where her car was found abandoned.
Her family has been offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts. The pharmaceutical sales representative was reported missing Sept. 19 after she didn't show up for an important work meeting.
Chicago police interviewed a man last week but have not named him a suspect. Franklin filed a police report about threatening phone calls she said she received from the man. The man told FOX Chicago that he was not involved in her disappearance and offered to take a polygraph test.
