After world cup 2011 weening, Dhoni wants to more lighten his burden by shaving off his head. He was spotted with a bald look at the team's felicitation ceremony here Sunday.Dhoni surprised the world with his tonsured head this morning, having shaved off the hair in the middle of the night in his hotel room.

Source said it is a pledge to the gods. Dhoni is believed to have made a commitment to do so before a deity close to his hometown in Ranchi before the World Cup began. The hair will now be offered at the Balaji temple in Tirupati.

Dhoni's hairstyle has always been in the news since the start of his international career in 2004 when he had longer hair.

By the way we get a remark about 'Dhoni cut'-----"Though Sachin Tendulkar is the world's most consistent cricketer, Dhoni is the most entertaining and exciting," Musharraf said in an interview to News 24.

Incidentally readers can remember that  Dhoni had cut his long locks after India won the Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007.

India win ICC World Cup 2011

 World Cup come after 28 years to the India. Sri Lanka loss the match and India get the victory by chasing 275 runs, makes the glorious new chapter in their cricket history. Gautam Gambhir's 97 and Mahendra Singh Dhoni's unbeaten 91 lead India to the top of the world again after 1983.

India vs Pakistan : Ponting predicts India will beat Pakistan

Ricky Ponting , Australian captain have predicted that India will beat Pakistan in the World Cup 2011 semifinal and Mahendra Singh Dhoni's team (team India) are the strong favorites to win the coveted title after 28 years.

"India played well as a team today and deserved victory. Today we were not good enough (to win). Going forward they will be pretty hard to beat. They will beat Pakistan in the semifinal and go on to win the World Cup now," Ponting said at the post-match press conference after Australia were knocked out of the World Cup by India.

"India have a very good batting line-up. We played very competitive cricket tonight but I'm disappointed with the two successive losses (against Pakistan in their last league game and today against India)," he said after his side's five-wicket loss in a high-octane World Cup quarterfinal.

He said that he will not play in the next World Cup but ruled out quitting one-day cricket.

"I am not quitting one-day cricket but this is probably my last World Cup game. I will be happy to look back after retirement that I made a century in my last innings in the World Cup," Ponting said.

He also said that the talk of the end of an era in Australian cricket was misplaced.

"It's a bit premature to say it was the end of an era for Australian cricket, it was a pretty good game tonight. I do not think we were far away from winning the game against a very good Indian team on their home soil. I think it's a bit too early to say it's the end of an era," said Ponting.

Ponting said his side had the chances to win the game and they were devastated by the loss.

"We had great expectations from the game. We were a well organized group. We are devastated. We found it difficult to get momentum. Not performing at critical moments cost us the game. We did not grab our opportunities," he said.

"We were 15 to 20 runs short with the bat. 250-260 was a good total but we lost wickets at bad time and never got the momentum going. We did not execute the plans properly," said the 36-year-old Tasmanian who scored a superb 104 after having struggled in the earlier part of the tournament.

The Australian captain felt the schedule of the tournament could have been spread out better but said that that cannot be an excuse for his side's crashing out in the quarterfinals.

"The schedule did not help us. But that cannot be put as an excuse for the loss. Over the last ten days my team has played four games. It would have been nice to have them (games) evenly spread out," he said.

He sympathized with his key fast bowler Brett Lee who had made a great effort to get back into the team after a 14-month injury lay-off.

"Brett has given a lot for Australian cricket during his entire career and at times coming back after big injuries. He will be shattered as he has worked very hard to get here," he said.

SL vs Eng: Sri Lanka crush England by 10 wicket for World Cup semifinal

Sri Lanka reach World Cup semifinal 2011 and will have to clash with New Zealand, by the way Srilanka crush England by ten-wicket and definite defeat over England in their quarterfinal match in Colombo today.

Sri Lanka easily reached 230-run, the victory target in 39.3 overs with the help of Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga. Both hit unbeaten centuries as England bowlers failed to make any breakthrough to dent the hosts run chase.

Dilshan's tenth ODI century(108), that came off 115 balls, was studded with 2 sixes and 10 fours.

Tharanga hit a six and 12 fours in his 11th ODI century(102) that came off 122 balls.

Earlier, Jonathon Trott and Eoin Morgan hit contrasting half-centuries to help England reach a respectable 229/6.

The 29-year-old Trott finished with 86 and put on 91 for the fourth wicket with Morgan (50) after England, electing to bat in the day-night game, were reduced to 31/2 on a slow, flat pitch at R. Premadasa stadium.

Patience was the key word for Trott as he negotiated the four-pronged Sri Lankan spin attack but failed to lift the innings in the final overs as England managed just 23 in the batting power-play.

Trott fell in the 49th over, caught off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan who finished with 2/54 in what could be his last international match before retirement.

He hit only two boundaries off the 115 balls he faced as Sri Lanka's bowlers kept a tight line and length in the final 10 overs.

Trott had added 64 for the third wicket with Ravi Bopara (31) after England lost captain Andrew Strauss (five) and make-shift opener Ian Bell (25) by the ninth over.

He brought up his fourth half-century in the tournament with a reverse sweep off Tillakaratne Dilshan in the 33rd over.

Morgan, dropped at 16 off Ajantha Mendis, got two more lives when Angelo Mathews and Rangana Herath dropped him in the space of three balls in one Muralitharan over.

The 24-year-old left-hander completed his 11th half-century with a sharp single off Lasith Malinga but in the same over he miscued a lofted drive and was caught in the covers by Mathews.

Morgan hit four boundaries during his 55-ball knock.

The winner will meet New Zealand in the first semifinal in Colombo on March 29.
