Namitha(Telugu: నమిత,Tamil: நமிதா); born as Namita kapoor on May 10, 1980 in a Punjabi-speaking Kapoor family in Surat, Gujarat, India is an Indian actress, who has appeared in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam & English films.

She first came into the limelight after she was crowned Miss Surat during the year 1998. She was a contestant in the 2001 Miss India pageant. This publicity opened up doors for her and she did a number of TV commercials like Himani cream & hand soap, Arun Ice Cream, Manikchand Gutka, and Nile herbal shampoo.

She made her acting debut in the Telugu film Sontham. Subsequent to that, she starred in the Tamil film "Aai" which featured the song "Arjuna Arjuna".

On 26th October 2010 , there was an attempt made at kidnapping her by a fan at Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu.

Miss Indian Universe of the year 2010 is all set to take on bollywood says report, if big bannered films are offered to her. Ushoshi Sengupta is inclined in acting in films, but is only interested in big bannered films. There is news that Miss India universe 2010 is being flooded with offers, but is only interested in starring with big stars and has no interest in signing petite projects.
Ushoshi Sengupta wants SRK to try her in his films and has openly announced that she is a great fan of bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor. Ushoshi Sengupta will be representing as a Miss India Universe, on august 23rd, 2010 in Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino which is in Las Vegas city.
