CSK vs RCB: Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore to win IPL 4

The Super Kings (Chennai) are the emperors of India.

Dhoni's army ambushed the Royal Challengers in the battlefield called Chepauk, to defend the citadel they had clinched in Mumbai last year. The Chennai mean machine started working from Ball One with M Vijay (95 off 52 balls) and Mike Hussey (63 off 45 balls) taking over and there was no looking back.

Vijay never looked good throughout the tournament, but Dhoni stuck with him. And what a day the Chennai boy chose to come good! The right-hander, in an outstanding opening partnership of 159 runs off 14.5 overs with Mike Hussey (63), did the groundwork and built some towers on it for good measure as CSK raced away to 205.

One man who could make a match out of it was Chris Gayle. But the shrewd Dhoni brought R Ashwin in the first over and the offie got the first two balls to turn away from the left-hander. Then came the killer ball which spun in and Gayle, on the back-foot, edged it to Dhoni.

After that, it was just a matter of keeping it tight as Royal Challengers kept losing wickets at regular intervals to go down by 58 runs.

Shane Warne fined $50000, will play last IPL match

BCCI has fined a $US50,000 ($A47,000) fine on Australian bowling legend Shane Warne for his part in a bust-up with a local administrator after an IPL game, a statement said Wednesday. Warne, captain of the Rajasthan Royals team in the Indian Premier League, was involved in an angry exchange with Sanjay Dixit, secretary of the Rajasthan state cricket association, following his team's defeat at home last week. The leg-spinner later apologised for "any distress" his action may have caused but the Rajasthan association still lodged a complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), owners of the money-spinning IPL.
Warne and Dixit were summoned for a hearing in Mumbai on Tuesday before a disciplinary commission comprising IPL chairman Chirayu Amin and former player Ravi Shastri. In a statement, the BCCI said the disciplinary commission "regards the public criticism of Mr Dixit as being a serious breach by Mr Warne of his IPL playing contract". "However, at the same time, the commission also recognises that Mr Warne has apologised to Mr Dixit, and that the incident occurred just after the match." It concluded: "The commission has decided to impose a fine of US$50,000 upon Mr Warne."

Royal Challengers (RCB) beat Kochi Tuskers (KTK) by six wickets

Royal Challengers (RCB) won with six wickets and eight balls to spare but it was not as if RCB had it easy all the way. In fact until KTK skipper Mahela Jayawardene inexplicably brought on local lad Raiphi Vincent Gomez with RCB requiring 33 from the last three overs, the match could have still gone the hosts' way. 

The young man did consume Saurabh Tiwary (26, 25b, 2x4) but then with AB De Villiers around, he still conceded 20 off his only over to hand the momentum and eventually the match to RCB. At that point, Sreesanth, RP Singh and Vinay Kumar had still an over each to go.

De Villiers (54 not out, 40b), who had initially allowed RCB's young opener Mayank Agarwal (33, 24b, 2x4, 2x6) to set the tempo after the early loss of T Dilshan, after having smashed five sixes and a lone boundary, then watched another young man Asad Pathan smash Vinay Kumar to the fence to bring about the win.
